Planning Matters, Agendas and MinutesPlanning is one of the most contentious issues that the Parish Council has to deal with, a real example of “You can’t please all of the people all of the time…”! The Parish Council can only advise and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (BDBC) doesn’t have to take Parish Council comments into consideration when making any decision. Oakley and Deane PC has its own Planning Committee, which normally meets on the fourth Thursday in each month at Newfound Sports Pavilion. Members of the public are welcome to attend. If applications have a closing date that is prior to the next Planning Committee meeting, it’s referred to the interceding Parish Council meeting for discussion, and if applications are contentious they're discussed by full Council prior to sending a response back to BDBC. BDBC sends full application details with plans to the Parish Council for consideration; residents are able to view the details by contacting the Clerk but to object to or support an application they must write to BDBC (and copy in the Clerk). Residents who may be affected by applications are notified by BDBC and the Planning Committeee also seeks their opinions. Agendas are displayed below once available and give details of all applications currently being considered. Residents can visit the Borough Council’s offices and informally meet a planning officer for advice and guidance and general information and a searchable database of planning applications (and viewable documentation) can also be found on the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council website.
