VILLAGE VISION (V V): QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS ANALYSIS

In the last 6 months, the V V committee has been working in an information gathering exercise as part of the Oakley, Newfound and Deane Parish Council (OND-PC) Action Plan development.  It consisted in the distribution of a Questionnaire to all households of the community in order to identify what are the main problems and/or benefits the residents have identified in the time they have been living in the Parish.

The Questionnaire covered three main areas:

  • Environmental & Transport factors
  • Economy & Business factors
  • Social & Community factors

There were a number of questions under each area, and the residents were asked to answer each one by indicating whether the issue referred to in the question felled into one of three categories: big issue, small issue, no issue.  The top 10 big issues identified by the respondents are:

  • Provision of Post Office & Postal Services
  • The surrounding countryside (Agriculture, footpaths)
  • Maintenance of roads and footpaths
  • Traffic through the Parish (e.g. volume)
  • Danger spots for vehicles. Nuisance caused by on-street parking
  • Key trees and wildlife areas
  • Emergency services
  • Management and maintenance of public green areas
  • Access to chemist
  • Access to Health information and health professionals

Further details of the responses gathered with  the  Questionnaire, and  a more detailed analysis of the findings, can be accessed in the following links:

Although there is consistency in the findings across the three consultation activities, and there was a response rate of approximately 22% from the Parish households, a good response rate for activities of this nature, the V V committee feels there is a need for more input from the community in order to produce a really effective Action Plan. For this reason, we hope more of you will get involved in the future consultation activities that we have planned for the start of the New Year.
