Standing Orders

Standing Orders for Parish Councils are equivalent of Articles of Association to a Company - they govern the way we work, and what we can and cannot do.

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) Model Standing Orders for parish and town councils provide a comprehensive framework of procedural rules for parish and town councils in England. These standing orders are essential for regulating the conduct of council meetings and ensuring orderly and efficient governance. They include mandatory legal requirements and optional guidelines that parish and town councils can adopt or modify to suit their needs. Parish and town councils can ensure transparency, accountability, and consistency in their operations by adhering to these standing orders.

*The latest 2025 draft version of the Councils Standing Orders, using the NALC template adopted, is currently under review for approval.  It will be updated to the Councils website in due course please contact the Clerk if you have any questions: [email protected] / 07983 500372
