Waste & Recycling

The Parish Council receives an annual grant from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council (BDBC) to employ two litter wardens who empty the public waste bins across Oakley. The village is divided into two zones: one warden covers street and footpath bins, and the other covers park and play‑area bins.

Residents are warmly encouraged to litter‑pick, and free litter‑picking sticks are available from the Parish Council - please get in touch if you’d like to help maintain our parish:

Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council (BDBC) is responsible for waste collection and managing bring‑bank recycling points across the borough, while Hampshire County Council (HCC) oversees wider waste disposal and all Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) across the county.

The Borough Council offers weekly food waste collections, fortnightly recycling and glass collections, a paid‑for garden waste service, and six council‑owned recycling sites for small electricals, textiles, footwear, foil and mixed plastics.

Residents can check their household collection dates at any time using the BDBC online look up service at: www.basingstoke.gov.uk/bincollections
